The intent of this forum is to discuss my DOS TSR programs (available at http://bretjohnson.us), how they work and don't work, new/missing features, status of updates, and anything else related to them that may need to be discussed.

In order to use a USB disk, you must install both a host driver (USBUHCI or USBUHCIL) and the disk driver, USBDRIVE. It doesn't look like you have USBDRIVE installed.

Also, you should probably use USBUHCIL instead of USBUHCI, since it uses less memory.

ok, i got it sorted out now. for whatever reason, this disk only works when use the usbports at the back of the pc case. in winxp, the same disk works on any port.

You should be able to get it to work with the ports on the front of the computer also. You'll just need to install USBUHCIL with the correct Index (PCI Search Index -- this is all discussed in USBINTRO.DOC). Each UHCI host controller can have a maximum of only 2 ports, so if you have more than 2 ports, you have more than 1 host controller. If you just do a "USBUHCIL" with no options, it will install for the first UHCI controller (Index 0), which on your computer must the ports on the back. If you want all of your ports to work (front and back), you'll need to install more than one instance of USBUHCIL (once for each Index). You can install USBUHCIl for all of the hosts on your computer if yuo want to, but that will probably just waste memory.

USBHOSTS will tell you how many hosts you have, but you'll need to figure out which ports go with which host controller by trial-and-error. Once you get it figured out, you should probably set up a USBUHCIL environment variable with the correct Index.

I have a TDK trans-it drive 4gb. I have partiotioned it so that 3GB of it is secure. I now want to decrease the secure area voulume. When I click on the relevent icon in the software it says unable to determine the drive size. Even formatting the open area of the flash drive still only gives me the set 1GB of space. Pleae help. How do I get the full 4Gb back tp public access.

You'll probably need to use the same (Windows?) software you used to create the secure partition. If that doesn't work, you can try something like FDISK, though that may not necessarily work depending on how the firmware in the flash drive is set up.
