USB Support on Toshiba Satellite 2540CDS?

The intent of this forum is to discuss my DOS TSR programs (available at http://bretjohnson.us), how they work and don't work, new/missing features, status of updates, and anything else related to them that may need to be discussed.

USB Support on Toshiba Satellite 2540CDS?

Postby csanyipal » Sat May 25, 2019 6:31 am

Hi,

I have installed FreeDOS on my old Toshiba Satellite 2540CDS laptop.

I am newbie for DOS but want to know whether can I use FreeDOS with Bret's USB dos support on this laptop?

I copied the USBdos files onto C: out there.

When I run
Code: Select all
USBHOSTS

I get I think only one output here:
HOST TYPE: OHCI
PCI BUS
Idx: 0
Bus: 0
Dvc: 11
Fnc: 0
VENDR: 1033h 0035h
IRQ: 11
BASE PHYSICAL MEMORY ADDRESS: F7FF_F000h
NEC Electronics Hong Kong

So does this mean I can't use Bret's USB Drivers on this machine?
Best, Pal

This output indeed indicates that my drivers won't work with your laptop. My drivers currently only work with UHCI host controllers, which are manufactured by Intel and Via. Your laptop has an OHCI controller manufactured by NEC. Sorry about that.

I am continuing to work on updates to the programs which will eventually result in an OHCI driver, but progress is very slow since I don't have a lot of spare time to work on it.
